Legal Fear

Fear of litigation has undermined our freedom to make sensible decisions. Doctors, teachers, even Little League coaches, find their daily decisions hampered by fear. Our legal system -- which has historically been a source of freedom for Americans -- has become too often a source of fear and inhibition.

Restoring Common Sense

Common Good Colorado is a non-partisan coalition of lawyers, educators, doctors and civic leaders who are dedicated to restoring common sense to Colorado law by enhancing the reliability of the way Colorado’s legal system affects society.

We draw attention to those areas where our legal system is not serving the public well, and work with others to develop innovative and practical solutions. The first major area of focus for Common Good Colorado is the development of the “Over-Ruled Schools Project” to restore the authority of parents, teachers and administrators to take back control of schools mired in bureaucracy and legal process.

State Affiliate of Common Good

Common Good Colorado is the first state affiliate of the national organization Common Good. Founded in 2002 by New York lawyer, author and civic leader Philip K. Howard, Common Good has advocated for a shift in legal structures to restore the authority to make common sense choices. They have had particular success promoting their proposal to create special health courts that would deliver reliable justice in medical malpractice claims.
